How does Kamado Bono compare with other premium kamados?

Every premium ceramic kamado cooks the same way: thick ceramic walls, lumpwood charcoal, smoking, roasting, baking and searing. The difference is what you get in the box and what you pay for it.

Delivery, assembly and warranty

How it arrives

  1. 1Dispatched within 1 working day (not weekends or bank holidays).
  2. 2We book the day with you. With free delivery (2–5 working days) the courier contacts you to agree a date that suits you – they never turn up without your confirmation. On the day, as soon as your pallet is loaded, they text you your estimated arrival time. If a driver ever arrives unannounced, you can refuse the delivery and we arrange another day.
  3. 3On a pallet to the kerb. The driver works alone and leaves it at the nearest accessible point – it weighs about 46 kg packed. The crate is about 50 × 46 × 63 cm (W × D × H).
  4. 4Check before you sign. If anything is damaged, take photos where it was delivered, note it on the delivery note and tell us the same day (at the latest within 1 working day). We raise the claim, collect the damaged item and deliver a replacement – nothing for you to worry about.

Questions before you buy

How does it compare with other premium kamado brands?
Premium ceramic kamados all cook the same way, and most carry a lifetime warranty on the ceramics. The Minimo 15" comes ready to cook – stand, heat deflectors and cover are in the box – where some brands charge extra for these. Some brands give longer cover on metal parts (up to 5 years; ours is 2 years). The table above shows what is included.
When will it arrive?
We dispatch within 1 working day (not weekends or bank holidays). Free delivery takes 2–5 working days, and the courier contacts you first to book a day that suits you. Next-day delivery is available for many addresses; the options for your postcode, including any charge, show at checkout. Northern Ireland, the Highlands and islands can take longer or cost extra.
Can I collect it myself?
Yes. Choose Click & Collect at checkout – it is free. You can collect from Unit 2 Provident Place, Empson Road, Peterborough PE1 5UU as soon as you have your order confirmation, during our opening hours (Monday to Friday 9am–5pm, Saturday 10am–3pm). Bring your order number or invoice as proof of purchase and we will help you load it. Not sure it will fit in your car? Call 01733 300516 and we will advise before you travel.
Do I have to wait in all day?
No. With free delivery the courier contacts you to book a date that suits you, and they never turn up without your confirmation. On the day, as soon as your pallet is loaded, they send you a text with your estimated arrival time. If a driver ever arrives without a booked day, or nobody is home, you can refuse the delivery and we arrange another day for you.
Will the driver bring it into my garden?
No – grills travel on a pallet and delivery is to the kerb, the nearest accessible point to your home. The driver works alone and cannot carry it through the house or garden. Have a second adult or a sack truck ready. If access is tricky, call us on 01733 300516 before ordering and we will talk you through it.
How heavy is it, and how many people do I need?
About 46 kg packed. Assembly is quick – most people finish in about 15 minutes with the tools in the box – but the ceramic body is heavy, so two adults should lift it onto the stand.
What if it arrives damaged?
Please check the pallet and the grill before you sign. If anything is damaged, take photos where it was delivered, write it on the delivery note and report it to us the same day – at the latest within 1 working day – on 01733 300516 or help@kamadokings.co.uk. We raise the claim with the courier, send a driver to collect the damaged item and deliver a replacement, so there is nothing for you to worry about.
What does the lifetime warranty cover?
The ceramic parts (body, firebox, fire ring and deflectors) are covered for the original owner for home use. Metal parts and the gasket are covered for 2 years, electrical accessories for 1 year. Surface rust and damage from briquettes, firewood or lighter fluid are not covered.
Which accessories fit my grill?
Every accessory in our shop is tagged with the grills it fits. Use the “Upgrades that fit” section above, or see every accessory that fits the Minimo 15".
Can it stay outside in a UK winter?
Yes. Keep it under the cover that comes in the box, leave the vents slightly open so moisture can escape, and bring it up to temperature gradually on cold days. Many of our customers cook on theirs all year round.
What charcoal should I use?
Good-quality lumpwood charcoal, such as our Texas Club lumpwood, and natural fire starters or an electric starter. Briquettes, firewood and lighter fluid can damage the ceramic and are not covered by the warranty.
Is the thermometer accurate?
The dome thermometer shows the air temperature at the dome, which can differ from the grate by 10–20°C. You can check it in boiling water (100°C); if it is well out, contact us. For precise cooking we recommend a probe thermometer such as the INKBIRD IHT-1K.
How do I stop rust on the metal parts?
Keep the grill covered when not in use, brush the grates while warm and store tools dry. The stand and bands are powder-coated; small surface marks can be touched up. Surface rust is not covered by the warranty.
Can I see the grills before I buy?
Yes – visit our showroom at Unit 2 Provident Place, Empson Road, Peterborough PE1 5UU to see the sizes side by side. Please call 01733 300516 before you travel so we can make sure someone is there to help.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes – two interest-free ways, both chosen at checkout: Clearpay splits the price into 4 payments every two weeks on orders up to £1,500, and PayPal Pay in 3 splits it into 3 monthly payments. Both are subject to approval by Clearpay or PayPal.
Are VAT and delivery included in the price?
The price shown includes VAT. Free delivery applies to mainland UK addresses; any charge for next-day delivery or remote postcodes is shown at checkout before you pay.
Can I return it?
Yes, within 30 days if it is unused, unassembled and in its original packaging. Return delivery is paid by the customer.

Full product description

Kamado Bono Minimo

Perfect for smaller groups (up to 5), this compact model is ideal for picnics or smaller terraces. The basic grill set includes a ceramic grill with a stand and handles, an innovative fibreglass gasket seal, a thick heat deflector, an ash removal tool, a protective grill cover, a cookbook, and a stainless steel grill grate gripper. With this set, you can grill directly (kebabs, steaks, burgers), indirectly (chicken, ham, chops), smoke (ribs, cheese, pulled pork), and prepare soups, pilaf, and stews.

What is Kamado?

The name KAMADO is a Japanese word for “stove”, and KAMADO literally means “a place for a boiling pot”. 竈 is the kanji character for KAMADO. In romaji writing system, which is based on the Latin script, the word KAMADO is written the same as in English – KAMADO. Now the word KAMADO is referred to all similar types of ceramic barbecue grills.

Historians state that people were already using wooden vessels for cooking in the ancient times, that’s why archaeologists discover remnants of this ancient dishware in every corner of the world. Some of the oldest clay pots, which are more than 3000 years old, were found in China. These round clay pots are believed to be ancestors of the modern KAMADO barbecue grill.

Throughout history, people have developed these simple clay pots and used them to cook various dishes in many different ways. Indians began to use clay ovens called a tandoor, while Japanese called them mushikamado, which is a stove to steam rice in Japanese families during special ceremonies. Mushikamado is a round clay pot with a domed lid and it was most common in Southern Japan. In ancient times Japanese developed it even further to regulate the evaporating temperature by perfecting the design of air dampers and they began to use charcoal instead of wood. Mushikamado came to the attention of Americans after World War II.

Kamado Bono Minimo.

Modern KAMADO barbecue grills are made of various materials such as heat-resistant ceramics and other heat-resistant materials, as well as terracotta – a traditional porous baked ceramic made of natural clay, Portland cement or a mixture of milled lava rock. The surface of the barbecue grill can also vary greatly. It can be coated with glossy ceramic glaze, paint, decorative textured plaster or ceramic mosaic. Modern ceramics and fire-resistant materials protect barbecue grills from cracking.

How to light up Kamado Bono Minimo grill?

KAMADO Bono Minimo barbecue grill is fired with charcoal. Wood charcoal does not leave a lot of ash, unlike charcoal briquettes they do not have impurities which can change and distort the taste of the cooked food. Charcoal can be manufactured in an environmentally-friendly manner, i. e. using the coppicing technique. Most importantly, food baked using lump charcoal has natural campfire aroma.

How to use Kamado Bono Minimo?

Ceramic barbecue grill design allows keeping the heat and reaching temperature up to 400oC. As well, using KAMADO barbecue grills you can adjust airflow and temperature in a most precise manner; KAMADO grills, therefore, are very similar to wood-fired ovens and can be used to roast and bake food in the same manner as you would do in a regular oven. KAMADO barbecue grills are designed not only for meat grilling or smoking, but they can also be used to bake pizza, cookies, pies and bread.

Kamado Bono Minimo Parts

KAMADO Bono Minimo barbecue grill has a ceramic frame, inside there is a firebox ¬¬¬– a ceramic tank for charcoal. The bottom part of the structure has an air vent, through which the airflow enters the firebox. The domed lid of the grill has another adjustable air vent, through which the airflow goes out. The vents are used to regulate the cooking temperature. Barbecue grids are placed over the fire to place the steaks on them. As well, the lid has an opening for placing the thermometer to measure the temperature of grilled food.
