How to use it in your kamado
Light it
Use natural wool lighters or an electric starter. Never use lighter fluid or chemical firelighters in a ceramic kamado – the ceramic soaks up the smell.
Use the right amount
For low and slow, fill the fire box to the top. For a quick grill, a smaller amount is enough. Keep the lid open while lighting and let the fire settle before you cook.
Use it again
Close both vents and the fire goes out. Next time, stir the old coals so the ash drops through, then top up with fresh charcoal. Store bags somewhere dry.

Safety first
Never use a lit or cooling barbecue in a tent, caravan, garage or any enclosed space. Charcoal gives off carbon monoxide for hours after it goes out.
